Galaxolide / گالاکسولائڈ

Galaxolide, chemically known as HHCB (1,3,4,6,7,8-Hexahydro-4,6,6,7,8,8-hexamethylcyclopenta[g]-2-benzopyran), is a polycyclic musk aroma chemical first developed and introduced by IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) in the 1960s. It belongs to the class of polycyclic musks — a group of synthetic fragrance compounds engineered to replicate the warm, sensual depth of natural animal musks without the ethical and supply concerns associated with ingredients like ambergris, civet, and musk deer secretions. Over the following decades, Galaxolide became the dominant musk ingredient in the global fragrance industry and today ranks among the top five most-produced aroma chemicals on the planet.

What makes Galaxolide uniquely valuable is its combination of softness, versatility, and fixative strength. Unlike nitro musks, which were phased out due to safety concerns, Galaxolide offers a safe, well-studied profile at IFRA-compliant concentrations.
